Welcome

Exobyte is a script store focused on making easy to use, efficient scripts. While we primarily aim our content at creators, there is something for every type of user here, be they content creators, builders, roleplayers, or otherwise interested in having a less laggy Second Life.Find our content on marketplace, or commission yourself a bespoke script if you need something fancier.

Script Licensing

If you purchased a script from marketplace, the following licensing applies:1. Purchased scripts may not be redistributed unless the scripts have both “No Modify” and either “No Copy” or “No Transfer” permissions. The object the script is in may be (and probably should be!) modifiable.2. Purchased scripts may not be redistributed in any form on their own or with exclusively other scripts. They must be redistributed as part of an item/product. (i.e. No selling “Script packs” or anything of the sort)3. Users may freely modify the content of any scripts that are purchased with full permissions, or copy and paste snippets into their own code. When doing so, the user must still abide by the Terms and Conditions for the new script as well.4. Users may not copy and paste the script wholesale into their own script to remove the creator’s name.5. Scripts that are given out for free must also follow these terms and conditions.6. While not necessary, if a script is used in a product or gift, credit would be appreciated.

Commission Information

Commission Status: Open
For examples of previous work and contact information, please see the About section.

If something can't be done with one of our scripts in the store, a commission may be right for you. Our commissions are all 100% original work, artisanally hand-typed by an organic, free-range scripter. All of our commissions are given full permission project folders, and nigh infinite freedom with what they do with the script once commissioned (please see the Commission Terms and Conditions for more information).Pricing starts at L$10,000 (~$45 USD) for simple projects and goes up depending on the scope of the project and the timeframe required. For products, a profit split may be negotiated in lieu of payment, but is not guaranteed as an option. While I primarily deal in scripts, I am also relatively good at creating UI elements. If part of the commission is to texture a HUD or something similar, that will also be an additional fee. Alternatively, you (or someone else) can do the UI elements if you have an in-house person you would rather use (or want to save some money!)

Commission Terms and Conditions

Payment

Payment for commissions may be made in either L$ in-world, or via Paypal in USD. A price will be given in whichever payment method the commissioner chooses, and the L$ price will factor in cost of conversion. Payment for commissions are done on an "After completion, before delivery" basis. A demo copy without permissions will be provided (or shown, depending on the commission) to demonstrate that work is complete, but the project with permissions will not be delivered until after final payment is received. Payment for commissions above $200 USD (~L$45,000) additionally require a 50% payment up front before work commences. This payment will not be refunded if work is stopped due to the commissioner.

Usage Rights

Upon final payment, the commissioner will retain full rights and usage of the script commissioned and any associated resources the scripter provided (textures, secondary scripts etc.), with the exception of resale rights. These rights include but are not limited to distribution with whatever permissions are desired, allowing other individuals to use the script, and allowing other individuals to modify the script. Resale of the script, parts of its contents, or its associated resources is prohibited without explicit permission from the scripter. The scripter will retain the right to reuse code snippets, scripting techniques, and code/product concepts in future works, but may not resell the script or its associated resources without explicit permission from the commissioner.

Feature Additions

Additions to previously commissioned scripts (or to the scope of a commission while it is being worked on) may be negotiated between the commissioner and the scripter at any time, with any additions incurring additional costs to the base commission. Payments for those costs are handled in line with payments for the main commission (i.e. if a commission is over $200, half of the additional payment must also be provided before work begins.)

Future Support

As part of the commission price, the scripter agrees to fix any bugs that are discovered post-delivery. These bug fixes will not incur additional costs, but will be done in the timeframe that the scripter's circumstances dictate.

About

I got my start scripting in Second Life in 2010, at the time scripting weapons for various SLMCs. I quickly branched out into more varied projects, eventually finding myself as the primary scripter for Contraption. Since then, I have done work for a variety of different content creators (Contraption, Level 9, Reliquary, Hotdog, Mizu, Kosmii, Raven Bell, Krova, and many more), as well as worked on the sim HUDs for several RP sims (I-29, Mhirdrun, Orius, Elysium, and more). Additionally, I acted as a consultant for Fantasy Faire 2021 for script usage and region resources, and have (via Contraption again) scripted stages at four different Second Life Birthday Events (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018).

Main Work

- I am the primary scripter for ContraptioN, something that started with the musical orchestrion in 2013. Ever since I have had the distinct pleasure to lend my scripts to an amazing team of talented creators.
- I am also the primary scripter for Level 9. I have been working with them since 2014, first on their old store and now on their new. It has been persistent fun to make the weapons, gadgets, armours, and little RP helpers.
- I am a co-developer of the Tactics combat system, which was created by Takaki Rejkus in 2013. I joined as the second developer in 2014 with version 0.8. All the HUD design and scripting work was done by me, while the ruleset is a shared endeavour - one that we both carry an immense amount of pride for.

Project Showcase

A collection of past commissions or main work projects that are examples of my work.

Orius Roleplay HUD

An experience-based roleplay HUD that essentially functioned as a full character sheet. It had three side panels: Rolls, on the left, and then inventory and skills (taking up the same space at the bottom). It allowed for full character creation via a setup menu, letting players choose race, class, abilities, and stats. The inventory system featured crafting, a sheet of icons to choose from to represent your item, and a series of colours to set those items in. Players could trade items and silver, and weight was tracked, with maximum weight being based on character stats.[This HUD was textured by me as part of the commission]

Conquest of Elysium Roleplay HUD

An experience-based roleplay HUD that functioned as a full character sheet, similar to the Orius HUD. Of particular note here is the fully graphical character creation process with its own dedicated HUD. Additionally, it had its own level up HUD, with a core system that decided which of the three HUDs you required at any given time (RP HUD, Creation HUD, Level Up HUD).[This HUD was textured by the client]

!Reliquary! The Outlaw's Tea Set

A tea set with more features than you can shake a sugar cube at. This texture synced across four items (Tea cup, Saucer, Spoon/Teapot, Caddy), carefully timed script effects with animations (appearing/disappearing things at the right time, starting/stopping particles, etc.), randomized idle animations, and even had a heat-seeking teacup throw option. This project was a lot of fun, and the end result is an absolute blast.

[ContraptioN] HALO.GEN Surveillance System

A project conceptualized far before it was actually made, this was something I had been wanting to do for quite a while. A fully functioning security camera system, with three different camera modes (static, sweep, controllable), variable zoom, and so much more to bring this project to life as a roleplay item. This is one of the projects I'm most proud of with Contraption, and there are a lot of things to be proud of with Contraption.
